"To photograph truthfully and effectively is to see beneath the surfaces and record the qualities of nature
and humanity which live or are latent in all things."

The concept of a photograph is truly incredible; a tangible image of something in any place and time. To find within the
world each unique detail and story and record it to film is a process unlike any other. We, at Birch Blaze Studios, seek through that
process to capture those qualities of nature and humanity in their most honest form.
In this age of digital photography, it's all too easy for anyone to pick up a highly-featured digital camera and call
themselves a photographer. But just what is it that makes Ansel Adams'
photograph of Half Dome in Yosemite any different or better than the thousands of other photos of the same scene that are taken
every year? Two things: 1. Artistic vision and, 2. The ability to utilize available equipment and processes
to see that artistic vision through to a finished print. Some of Ansel's most notable and regarded images were photographed with
inexpensive (read "cheap"), consumer-level cameras. The difference was in the timing, composition and post-processing
artistry that America and the World has come to love in Ansel Adam's work.
Actually, anyone who gains personal enjoyment from dabbling in any creative endeavor could call themselves an artist.
Ultimately though, the success of any photographer or artist that wishes to make a living with their craft lies in how their work is
viewed and used by others. Birch Blaze artists Taylor and Kerry Struble approach photography with an artistic
eye. Their work has been used in various publications and Websites, including the new, Birch Blaze designed magazine,
Standup Journal.
Taylor and Kerry make use of both film and digital technology, and have chosen to work with tried and trusted names in
equipment manufacturing such as Hasselblad and Canon. Purists would argue that digital photography lacks the warmth and "spirit"
of traditional film photography. We believe that there is some truth to this philosophy, however we also believe that digital
photography has many benefits and appropriate applications, which is why we make use of both technologies.
Birch Blaze Studios offers a wide range of photography services. We strive to capture the essence of our subject's
personality in our photos, and believe the best way to do this is to work in a natural environment. We love to work with beautiful outdoor
locations, but also realize the benefit of photographing a subject in their own "environment"—the place they're most
comfortable in. This could be their home, backyard or in some cases, the place where they create. Some of the photography services we
currently offer include wedding photography, lifestyle 'environmental' portraiture (which would include couples, children, maternity...),
commercial/product photography and architectural photography. We also offer a host of post-processing services such as image editing &
manipulation, photo retouching & restoration and digital file format conversion (if you need different file formats of existing digital
image files). Feel free to call us at 603.539.4480 or email us at
for more info, or to set up a meeting to discuss your project.
